The Alberta Building Code 2014 and Alberta Fire Code 2014 each contain provisions that deal with the safety of persons in buildings in the event of a fire and the protection of buildings from the effects of fire.(1) These two Codes are developed as complementary and coordinated. Description

Municipal Affairs (Safety Services branch) and the Safety Codes Council develop Alberta Building Code STANDATA jointly. Some are issued under the authority of the Code or the Safety Codes Act as province-wide variances or interpretations. Others are information bulletins that provide general advice on related matters. These bulletins are applicable to the Alberta Building Code (ABC) 2014.
